A 5.5 MWp solar power system was installed on an existing greenhouse by replacing the existing deck system with a new greenhouse deck system that fully integrates the solar panels. This approach combines sustainable energy generation with efficient use of space without the need for additional structures on the roof.
Because a large grid connection was already in place, there was no need to apply for a new connection. The solar system could therefore be connected directly to the grid, saving both cost and lead time.
The configuration also takes into account a future expansion with a BESS battery storage system. This allows excess solar power to be stored in the future and later fed into the grid, so that no energy is lost and the company is ready for smart energy management.
This project shows how innovative integration of solar panels into greenhouse cover systems can contribute to making the greenhouse horticulture sector more sustainable, with maximum utilization of existing infrastructure.
